Inspired by a dream in which she sewed a broken treaty onto a thrifted quilt, artist Gina Adams started to use text to educate people about the events of US history that American education would rather forget. With intention for social change, for discourse, for the start of discussion - roles are needed. Gina Adams wishes to fill a role with the patched voices of the past displayed on a quilt, threaded together with time and intention, with fair pay to the workers, to cause an emotional reaction, to feel the disorientation of those treaties broken all those times, through all those years. It is moving, the repetition and meditation on the names of those who were forced to sign the Broken Treaties. Repetition. Meditation.
